• Certified Lymphedema Therapist—Lymphology Association of North America

Andrea earned her bachelor of science degree from Emory University and Tufts University in occupational therapy. As an occupational therapist since 1978, she gained a wealth of experience working in acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health settings and outpatient settings in Arizona. Andrea began her lymphedema studies as early as 1996. She received certification in the Casley-Smith International Lymphoedema treatment method in 2000, also successfully completed certification through the Lymphedema Association of North America (LANA). In 2010, Andrea began a mission to spread awareness and education about lymphedema. Patients conveyed their disappointment in other healthcare providers who failed to understand the complexity and impact of their edema-related problems. She furthered her education by completing her post-professional clinical doctorate in occupational therapy in 2012, with emphasis in health services administration and lymphedema management program development.
During 2014, Andrea was selected to become a certified instructor in the Casley-Smith treatment method. This training took her to the University of Glasgow UK to assist in teaching the master's level certificate in lymphedema management. Upon her successful completion of this training, she created the Brennan School of Innovative Lymphatic Studies, which spearheads evidence-informed training and certification in lymphedema, lipedema, venous insufficiency and chronic swelling. Andrea is frequently invited to speak on chronic edema and lymphedema management as well as other related clinical topics. She has presented and published on diverse topics in lymphedema management on a local, national and international level. She has also given presentations at the Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin and Wound Care; the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Annual Conference; Fat Disorders Research Society, American Vein and Lymphatic Society and International Lymphoedema Framework. She also wrote a chapter on lymphedema in the medical textbook, Core Curriculum for Phlebology Nurses. Furthermore, each year she volunteers with Amigos de Salud, an international lymphatic and phlebology organization, offering treatment in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Professional memberships include the International Compression Club, the International Lymphoedema Framework and Casley-Smith International.
She lives with her husband, Joe, now empty-nesters, in Scottsdale, with their doodles, Majestic and Miracle.

Oncology Massage Therapist (MD Anderson Cancer Center, Gilbert, Arizona)
20+ Years as a Medical Massage Therapist(LMT)
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
While working with cancer patients, as a physical therapist assistant, she realized that many felt "alone" in their new, life-long maintenance programs often required after lymph node removal. Patients often request to come back to the clinic after being discharged for the "massage" used by certified lymphatic therapists to reduce swelling.
To fill this need, Deborah worked with other rehab and lymphatic therapists, oncologists, and integrative departments to create a specialized massage for cancer survivors affected by lymphatic damage. Through this collaboration, a specialized oncology lymphatic massage program was created and offered to MD Anderson Cancer Center patients in Gilbert, Arizona.
After relocating, Deborah founded Pink Ribbon Lymphatic Massage, LLC in Scottsdale, Arizona and has put together a talented team of rehab professionals.
Each therapist at Pink Ribbon is a specialists in the field of lymphatic therapy and dedicated to serving those who are seeking evidence based and safe lymphatic care
